So I got my iPhone 5, when I did I got it from another provider and backed up all the data from my iPhone 4. Because of this the iPhone 5 came with it's own number however I'm currently in the process of getting my number transferred to my new provider for my iPhone. My iPhone 5 now though has 2 phone numbers it receives iMessages off, I want to delete the phone number my iPhone 5 came with but it won't let me (it's shaded out and won't let me un click it). To make matters worse on my iTunes account I don't have any mobile numbers listed so I can't do it from there either. So any ideas?, I don't want to use the new number I have been given and I don't want to get iMessages from random people once the number has been reassigned to someone else. I have been able unclick on that number for my Macbook Pro, but on both my iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 I cannot delete that number from receiving iMessages.

Hi. I recently gave up my iPhone to switch to a non-Apple device.  While I had the iPhone, my phone number was used for iMessage. Now when my friends using iPhone try to send me a message, it automatically select iMessage as Apple recognises my mobile number as an iMessage number even though I don't have an iPhone anymore.  Is there any way to remove my phone number from Apple's iMessage database?

Removing phone number from iMessage

I had an iPhone. It was associated with iMessage. I moved to the (gasp) Samsung Galaxy S IV. I have several other devices, including desk tops and iPads that are logged into iMessage. For some reason, all my previous contacts with iPhones can't text me, unless they turn off iMessage. Their devices don't see a delivered message, but it never tries text either. As an Apple user, I'm let down by the fact that users can't specify in a thread that they don't want to use iMessage, especially given the number of complaints concerning this feature.

i updated to 10.8.2 and i had already been using imessage on 10.8.1 and before. i went to imessage and there is no option or alert or anything to add my phone number to it. i use the same apple id on my iphone and receive imessages at both my apple id email address and phone number. i have tried signing out, deleting all my messages, ive tried signing out restarting my macbook pro and signing back in, still nothing. any way to manually set it up or refresh the account?  update: i guess everyone says i need to update my iphone to ios6 first. i'm just going to wait for my iphone5 on friday to set this up as im not yet going to update to ios6 on my 4S Message was edited by: vikgrover87

Can't remove my number from iMessage on my IPad . Just bought a new phone with data package , as soon as I turned it on, my iPad asked me to link the iPhone 5 number to my iPad iMessage , I said yes, and that was the mistake, both iPad and iPhone getting messages when I send it to either.   I tried to switch in between all the other emails registered on my iMessage , but no luck. Any One have an idea how to remove the number from iPad?
