"iPhone is Disabled" message on home screen

I used my iPhone this morning to check email, and just came back to it this afternoon. When I turn it on, I'm getting a message that says:"iPhone is disabled" and "Connect to iTunes" There is a slider at the bottom to activate an emergency call.I've not been using my phone today. My wife did just tell me my 4-year-old son had the phone at one point. I suppose it's possible he may have done something--but am not sure what.I tried recycling the power, but that doesn't work.Any ideas on next steps?Message was edited by: Brian Utter

How to bypass waiting time with the message "iPhone is disabled"

I found this when my little brother was trying to get into my iphone. I tried to unlock and it told me that I had to wait 55 minutes, so I plugged it into iTunes and played a song off it. When I got the "Slide to cancel syncing" message on the iPod i slid it and then I was asked to enter the passcode and it was unlocked.
Simple as that with no waiting time.

Hello everyone, I have an iphone 4s running on 5.1 iOs and this morning i've changed my passcode and save it when suddenly i've tried to unlock my phone using my new password but it keep saying wrong passcode and im sure 100% that i've entered the correct passcode and i've tried also to enter my old passcode but still the same. Now my iphone is disabled and it say that i must connect it to itunes...to do a restore or a recovery. But my problem is that im afraid that when i do a restore all my apps and contacts will be wiped and i dont want that,( i have a backup on my itunes )Just asking if i could do a restore or recover my iphone without loosing my apps cause all my apps are paid apps and they cost around 500$??I've read many tutorials about that saying to put the iphone in DFU mode and recover it then syncing back the apps.....But im afraid that when i recover my iphone my apps
