iPhone 4 will NOT stop automatically checking Yahoo! Mail

So...my wife's iPhone 4 -- both before and after the latest update -- just refuses to NOT check Yahoo! Mail automatically. Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars --> Fetch New Data: Push is set to "OFF." Fetch is set to "Manually." What else should I be checking?? I hate to have her phone be checking her e-mail when she's not connected to wifi, especially when we're traveling.
