iPhone 4 vs 4S - differences causing an issue?

Ok, hopefully I am posting to an acceptable location as I tried to look for specifics and cannot find mine so hopefully someone can help or I may have to abandon the iPhone which I really don't want to do. I have 2 issues which follow the background. I previously had a Verizon wireless iPhone 4 that worked perfectly. I then got a AT&T iPhone 4S which I had them unlock and now use it on T-Mobile. Problem 1: The 4S on T-Mobile does not allow picture/video messaging to/from anyone who does not have an iPhone. Is there a fix for this? Problem 2: I have in my car a Pioneer Avic D3 with integrated iPod/iPhone adaptor with a scosche attachment for charging. My iPhone 4 through Verizon charged and played through the speakers and could be controlled through the head unit, but with the 4S it will only charge and says there are no songs on it so for some reason it is not recognizing what is there.
