iphone 4 universal dock adapter

Hello I am interested in buying the Apple iPhone 4 Universal Dock Adapter 3-Pack. I am confused though, it is what I think it is right? I think its something that goes inside a radio - Iphone dock or a Iphone speaker dock right? Something that wont damage the phone? I plan to get 1, buy why is it a 3 pack? just incase you loose one?

Hi guys, I have the Apple Universal dock.. But the iphone 4 is not fitting into the 3gs dock adapter. So I was looking to purchase a iphone4 adapter. But sadly, Apple is selling them as a 3-pack for $9. Since I need only 1, I was wondering if I could purchase just 1 of it elsewhere ? eBay didn't help! Thanks..
