Hi all, I've been browsing the forum for a while trying to find a solution but haven't been able to yet. A friend asked me to help them out with their iPhone 4, I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. So most of the time it's in recovery mode with the 'Connect to iTunes' screen displayed. When trying to restore in iTunes it gets to about 60-70% in the progress bar on the iPhone, hangs there for a few minutes then throws up error code 37 in iTunes. Then the iPhone will reboot and hand on the apple logo. So far i've tried: - Restore to stock 5.1 5-6 times from recovery mode - - Restore to stock 5.1 a few times from DFU mode - Restore to stock 4.1 a few times from DFU mode - Restore to custom (sn0wbreeze) 5.1 a few times from pwned DFU mode (iREB) - Restore to custom (sn0wbreeze) 4.1 a few times from pwned DFU mode (iREB) - Checked TU, made sure 'Set hosts to Cydia' is unticked - Tried a different U

Unable to custom restore from 4.3.5 on iPhone 4 - error 3194

Hi folks, New to the forum and just bought a second hand iPhone 4 and need to unlock it. I am unable to update it to custom firmware - nothing works at all. I initially tried going from 4.3.5 to 5.0.1 and then realised that this is no longer signed by Apple. I then tried to restore using a custom ipsw for my current version - 4.3.5. I also tried other versions and I still get the same error. Several blogs have mentioned that the hosts file can be modified so I pointed towards the Cydia IP and confirmed that gs.apple.com does indeed redirect me to the Cydia site. It still doesn't work though. I've also tried on 2 different machines, my PC and my partner's mac and get the same issue! Can anyone help? Is there anyway to upgrade to 5.0.1 without using iTunes? All I can think is that the current iOS is corrupt. Could someone please help as I'm at my wits end :noidea Thanks

Iphone 4 (4.0.2) unable to restore - device isnt eligible ,shsh already saved

OK this is my dilemma, I previously had 4.0.1 on my Iphone 4 with shsh saved using umbrella, and jailbroken. I had to take the phone to the apple store today since I was gong to exchange it for another phone (a different problem - call related) I tried to restore a fresh copy of 4.0.1 and it didnt work, so I just upgraded it to 4.0.2. I got my phone fix so back with the same phone (not exchanged), I am trying to downgrade to 4.0.1 with the edit in the host file on my mac with the address and I get the error "the device could not be restored and its not eligible for the requested built." what am I doing wrong? thanks

Unable to restore iPhone 4 to custom 5.0.1 with iREB (1604 error)

So I used Sn0wbreeze v2.9.1 to create a custom ISPW for 5.0.1. My iPhone was already not working after I tried to update via iTunes because of some error and is now constantly telling me to enter iTunes. I thought it didn't matter since now I could use the latest version of iREB and put my iPhone into Recovery Mode and then Shift+Restore to the custom 5.0.1. ISPW I created using the latest Sn0wbreeze. However after several minutes of 'preparing to restore', iTunes pops up with an error that says: 'The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1604).' On the other hand if I don't Shift+Restore to a custom ISPW and just click restore to go to default 5.0.1 from Apple, it comes up with an error that says: 'iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occured (0xE8000065).' Followed by: 'The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1611).' I tho

USB connection not possible, unable to restore iPhone 4

Hi ya'll! I have had a problem with my iPhone 4 now for a while. The USB connection have stopped working. And i don't think its a hardware problem. Here is what I have tried. Different cables to different computers (only windows 7 PC's) Phone will charge, but windows wont find the phone. Same problem with DFU mode, no connection. BUT with recovery mode, Windows pops up and says "device not recognized" and this is the same on all three computers I tried this on, so there is a physical connection! Also, other iphones and ipads are working on these computers I have also tried to reset the phone from settings/restore but the phone just rolls on with the "hourglass" Left it for a couple of hours, still the same "hourglass" Restarted it, all the same. Same thing with software update from the phone, it donwloads the update, then it fails when its about to install. Also tried iFaith, but no conn

I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 running iOS 4.0.1. Everytime I try to restore it, when it gets to verifying software, it gives me the error saying "iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable", its been like this for over 3 days now. Someone help!

Can somebody please help me with restoring my iphone 4 *it is currently in a recovery mode loop and is running ios 5 and is tethered jailbroken with resn0w. I have tried everything to resore it and it just wont work i need to get it back into working order urgently as i need it for work. i tried restoring it and it comes up with error 3149 i run tiny umbrella tss server and then it gives me a 2005 error i have tried the just boot tethered option with redsn0w... it wont work i have tried getting it out of recovery with tiny umbrella... wont work. please can it would be really appreciated if someone could help me. I failed a JB with ios7 evasion. The first time it recovered easy, now it just turns off just before itunes is done extracting..... Please help, iphone 4 16gb windows if you need any more info let me know

Hey guys, I did post this in the step by step guide but it seems to have gotten lost in the sea of errors others are having. I restored myself back to iOS when the update came through(which I am regretting as I loved greenpois0n) so I'm looking to JB again using snowbreeze. I follow the steps to a T, however I get the point where it starts to extract the files in iTunes and then I get this error stating I cannot restore the iPhone, error(11). Everything I do up to this point is step by step as per instructions given on this website for my phone using a PC. I go into EXPERT mode to build the IPSW, hold the power and home button to put the phone in DFU mode and then hop into iTunes to left shift click the restore button. Itunes goes to extract the files and when it looks to be about done, an error pops up as I already mentioned. Any of you JB gurus able to help me out? I'm having jailbreak withdrawals.
