Brightness of iPhone 4 screen goes dim when it gets hot.
location:
macrumors.com - date:
July 17, 2010
I have replicated this problem a few times today. I am running my iPhone4 with Navigon using the GPS and plugged into the charger. It gets quite warm. I noticed if it gets to warm the brightness drops down quite a bit. 100% Brightness looks more like 20%. Going into the brightness setting will not bring it back up to full level but it will change the brightness. When I turn it off and wait about 30 seconds and let it cool down and turn it back on again, it goes to full brightness and it is fine until it heats up again. While driving it was ok in the car because of the AC but I left it on during Rest Stops and Lunch breaks and that is when it overheated and the brightness went down.
It maybe did this 3 times during a 7 hour drive.
Anybody else have their iPhone 4 do this?

iPhone 4 screen, leaving it on all night and alarm clock app
location:

I need a new clock and rather than go get one, I am considering using my iPhone 4 as a bedside alarm clock with the dock. Anyone know if it'd ok if I get an alarm clock app and leave it on all night? Can it harm the screen? The battery? I'll be in the dock charging.
Also, anyone have any good recommendations for an alarm clock app????

iPhone 4 Screen Goes (And Stays) Blank
location:
macrumors.com - date:
July 4, 2010
If it weren't for the fact that the exact, same thing started to happen a few days ago, when I still had my 3GS, I would be putting the blame on my new iPhone 4, which I just purchased yesterday.
I upgraded to iOS 4 on my 3GS and all worked great for the first 10 days, or so. All of a sudden, I noticed that upon ending a phone call my screen would just be blank. The sensors do detect the phone is now away from me and the display illuminates but it's all black/blank. I'm able to end the call by touching the "End" button (it doesn't display, I just know where it's situated on the screen). I'm also able to lock the phone and unlock it by swiping even though there's nothing on the display other than an all-black screen that's lit. -- This happens on 50% of my calls.
Additionally, on a few occasions my display has started to rapidly flicker (sort of like a strobe light) while I try to unlock my phone. It'll flick real fast for about 10

Iphone 4 Screen Black and Unrecoverable
location:
imore.com - date:
February 4, 2013
Hi, my wife has an Iphone 4, it has had a jailbreak on it for at least a year and she is still runniing IoS 5.0.1. She does have the jailbreak, but other than BiteSMS, 5 dock app and a couple other tweaks, she most likely never installs things from cydia.
The other day, she was sending a text, she claimed she saw something say updating (have no clue what), the phone went black and then went into a boot loop where the apple logo faded in and out in a black screen. I tried to hard reset by holding home and power for a while, but that didn't work. I then tried to restore it w/ Itunes, but it kept failing giving me a 3194 error.
I then followed some instructions to add host address to some file which I did, I still received the same error.
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, sorry if so.
Now, I'm pretty sure I've probably screwed things up from this point on and put the device in it's current state, I was a little hasty

How to use a Cdma iPhone 4 screen on a 4S.
location:

Here is a little guide nothing special just explaining the differences and what needs to be done to make the Verizon Cdma screen assembly work on the new iPhone 4S. But before we start why would someone want to do this? Well first off its cheaper to buy the Cdma screens then the 4S screens. If your doing a color conversion there are a lot more colors available for Cdma. And last but not least the market is flooded with Cdma stuff so its easier to get a hold of the parts then it is with the new 4S.
As you can see from the image above I have highlighted 2 tabs on the back of the screen assembly. These 2 tabs are the only differences between cdma and the 4S screens.
The first tab in the middle of the screen needs to be simply cut off. When cutting it off you do need to be EXTREMELY careful not to press on the lcd. If you press on the lcd to hard it will distort it. You do need to cut t

Cracked iphone 4 screen - How to Replace/Repair?
location:
macrumors.com - date:
August 26, 2012
I recently cracked my iphone 4's screen. I took it to apple and the cost to replace it is the usual $200. I was thinking that I may be able to fix it myself for less money. My question is, where should I buy the digitizer from? Is the digitizer separate-able from the lcd or are they fused so that I would need to by an entire lcd+digitizer combo? Does anyone have any feedback on the repair process and its difficulty? I watch a couple videos and read the ifixit tutorial guide. The process seems pretty long but is it difficult? It seems easier than an ipod since the iphone has screws rather than only glue.

Shattered iPhone 4 screen and Apple Store experience
location:
macrumors.com - date:
September 25, 2011
Just wanted to relay my experience on having our local Apple Store replacing a screen on my wife's phone. I had read several posts that Apple would, as a one time courtesy, replace a broken screen. Reading these comments we made an appt at the Genius Bar....they looked up the purchase date of the phone and said it was out of warranty so, $199 to replace.
Obviously she dropped the phone which caused the damage but I have to admit that although the iPhone 4 design is nice to look it is not practical in use. We left with much disappointment. Our family is not a casual Apple user - we own two current iPods, two iPhones, two MBPs, an iPad 2, a MacMini and the current AppleTV.

iPhone 4 Screen Replacement, now phone doesn't work at all!
location:
modmyi.com - date:
October 2, 2011
Looking for some advice on how to get my iPhone working again! I cracked my screen when it hit the pavement. The phone worked fine for 2 months until I decided to save some money and replace the screen myself. I purchased the screen/digitizer on Amazon and watched youtube videos to know how to do it. After reassembly, I got a white screen. I tried the reboot to no avail. I took the phone apart numerous times to see if I had missed something and tried putting the old screen back in, etc. I know that I did the most common mistake (the long cable that has to go through the lcd didn't come all the way through and I crimped it). After several disassemblies and reassemblies, I am getting nothing. It doesn't seem to power up, won't be recognzed on the dock, charging cable, car charger, computer...nothing recognizes it. I took it to a guy who repairs them in the mall at a kiosk. He replaced everything but the mother board and it still doesn't work. I'm supposed to take it back tomorrow to let
