My volume was low too but once I turned it up from the default level it was loud and clear... But I always use the headphones so who knows. On a side note I have a set of inner ear rockfish headphones and the mic keeps cutting out so now I'm using the apple ones that came with the phone. So things don't seem to work with this phone even a old iPod sync cable gave me a error right off the bat.
