iPhone 4 Live Video to External Monitor

Hey all, Newbie here.
I use my iphone 4 to shoot video for an ongoing project that uses a homemade steady cam rig that places my phone away from both my subject and my eyes. Basically I cannot see my framing of the subject as I shoot. I want to hook the iphone up to an external monitor so that i can view the live footage as I shoot it. Currently, I use a third party video app called ProCamera that importantly allows me to set white balance, exposure and focus prior to shooting. Is there anyway without jailbreaking my phone, that I can use Apple's Ipad to VGA cable with the phone, to feed the live video image to an external monitor? I know there's an app called Video Out that will do so, but that app has no exposure controls.
Basically, I need to view what my Iphone displays on its screen, regardless of the app that's being used (in my case, ProCamera) and though it seems possible if I jailbreak, I hoping it's possible without jailbreaking. Any lig
