What OS are you running? I went thru the EXACT symptoms in Windows Vista...finally jumped on a XP machine...and boom...no probs. I dont really think you can say its JB'en if there is no freeze since you cant get Cydia. PM me and I might be able to help. I was loosin

so if i download the IPA's from "somewhere" , i can use itunes to install them without fear of being charged?

A friend of mine is having some trouble jailbreaking his iPhone 3Gs the firmware is 3.1.3 MC model, the modem firmware is 05.12.01 if it helps. Thanks for reading.

Hello,
I feel stupid for this happening but this is my situation. After geohot released purplera1n rc2a i downloaded and installed his jailbreak on my iPhone 3GS. Everything seemed to work fine and I had no problems. I should've just stopped here and been happy.
But when I saw that the dev team released redsn0w 0.8 i decided their jailbreak would be more safe than geohot's, mainly based on their experience in writing end user apps to jailbreak. So I restored back to the official 3GS 3.0 firmware and proceeded to use redsn0w 0.8 to jailbreak.
The jailbreak worked fine and I don't need ultrasn0w (I'm a AT&T customer). But now my wifi doesn't work. I can connect to my local network via wifi but no websites come up and Cydia couldn't connect to anything. This only started happening after I installed redsn0w. I know its not my wifi network because my 2G iPhone connected and worked fine on the same network.
I have tried every type of restore (

if you have win 7 then just download xp mode which is basically windows xp virtual machine from microsoft. works fine through this method.

Hi
Currently have an unusable phone so would really appreciate some help with this. If you take a look at the thread below you'll see the history of this issue, but basically I've been going back and forth getting help jailbreaking my phone. The last thing I did was update my software in itunes and then use redsnow to jailbreak again. However, when I went to reboot I got this error:
Missing Keys.plist data for this build
I'm not sure what this means or how to resolve it.
Can anyone help?

hi there people. i am new to this forums thing but i am wondering if anyone can help me.
i have a iphone 3gs 8gb backed up and synced to itunes (this hasnt been jailbroken). my friend is selling her iphone 3gs 16gb (jailbroken) but i was wondering can i sync the new iphone to my itunes accout without removing the jailbreak.
i dont want to remove the jailbreak as it is unlocked an thats the only way i will keep it unlocked without paying anything.

Good Morning Ladies & Gents,
I have read these posts and the other information,can someone please clarify as i have just bought a 3gs 32gb on Ebay, stating it was unlocked to find that it is not.
It is Running Version 5.01(9a405)
Firmware 05.16.05
So if i can read correctly this phone CANNOT be unlocked.
I would really be thankfull for a quick answer as i need to start a dispute if this is the case

Ok, so I'm really sorry because I'm trying to search through the forums for a solution (or to find out if there isn't a solution) but I'm just getting a bit confused.
I have an iPhone 3GS that has been unlocked/jailbroken (done by my ex around this time last year).
It's currently on 4.1 with a baseband of 06.15.00. I'm finding having 4.1 is starting to limit apps available to me, and I'd also like some of the newer features.
I'm aware that there are some issues with the baseband and I've read that I'm basically screwed now and cannot update.
What I want to know: Is there an update out there for me without having to change the baseband? Alternatively, is there a way to restore my phone to factory settings?
I'd rather keep it jailbroken/unlocked but ultimately I just want a newer version.
Again, I'm a bit new at this, so I apologize if this has been answered a gazillion times but really appreciate any and
