iPad USB port broken?
location:
apple.com - date:
December 11, 2011
When I plugged my iPad into my laptop USB ports the battery icon did not change and the laptop did not acknowledge the iPad as connected. The laptop's ports are fine, and I tried a few different USB cords, so I believe the problem is the iPad USB port. I tried plugging it in to the wall and it worked after I restarted, but the next few attempts did nothing. I left it plugged in overnight and when I turned it on in the morning it was still at the same percentage, but when I unlocked it the number doubled suddenly. It appears to be draining normally, but there is no response to being plugged in.

Did I damage my iPad's USB port, by using an iPhone 4 USB cable?
location:
macrumors.com - date:
July 8, 2010
I got an iPhone 4 the day after launch, and just picked up an iPad today.
Instead of unpacking the USB cable that came included w/ the iPad, I just used the one I got with my iPhone 4. They LOOK identical but I'm not sure - both have the shorter dock connecter part (instead of the longer, fatter ones from before).
I noticed the iPhone 4 USB was VERY hard to insert into the iPad firmly... I had to really push and force it. It connected OK, but not very easily. So I went ahead and used the new USB cable that came w/ the iPad, and it fit nice and easy. No force necessary, it just glided into the iPad!
My question is, are the Apple USB cables not interchangeable with other devices? Was I not supposed to plug the iPhone 4 USB cable into the iPad? I really hope I didn't damage my USB port on my iPad.
What gives?

I couldnt find a similar thread on mroogle, but i'm sure there is one.
If you can point me in the direction of it good, if not then read on.
The iPad camera connection kit allows you to attatch your camera through a USB cable,
Do you think it will be possible to plug a USB memory pen into this port and have acces to the media on it?
Main points in bold, easy to see!
thanks
Mike

Please Provide USB Port on the iPad So My 3G Wireless USB Card / Dongle Can Be Used for Internet Access on It!
location:
apple.com - date:
April 30, 2011
Dear Apple: You need a regular USB port on your iPADs or at least the ability to plug in a regular USB Port on which I can plug in my 3G Verizon Wireless dongle/card to access the internet! Just offering a half-functional USB external plug for pics or flash drive isn't enough. Please provide a fully functional USB port (internal or external) like Macs have! I shouldn't have to pay Verizon or AT&T separately for yet another monthly 3G connection subscription just so i have mobile internet access on my iPad too when I already pay them for a 3G wireless dongle for my MacBook Pro plus iPhone data package. Please provide a fully functional USB Port plug in, and in future models, a built in fully functional USB Port. I love Apple products, but this one's a real handicap for my iPad. As Nike would say, "Just Do It."

I have bought the iPad camera connection kit but when I plug my Canon 350d into the USB port a message comes up saying "this device is unsupported". Does this mean I cannot download my photos to my iPad or do I have to do something to enable the transfer?

iPad not charging AND NO I'M NOT using a USB port!
location:
macrumors.com - date:
May 30, 2010
Hi, my iPad is not charging through the wall charger it says 10% and it shows no indication that its charging (or not) when it's plugged in, it just stays the same. I think it's charging though, because when the battery depleted and it shows the battery and the lightning bolt sign (telling you to charge it,) it recognizes when I plug it in and just shows the lightening bolt (meaning its being powered.) Any thoughts? Should I just take it in to the Apple store for a new one? Thanks!

IPAD 2 Won't Charge on USB port on my laptop, my desktop Mac but will charge via the wall plug
location:
apple.com - date:
February 5, 2012
I am confused on what to do with my IPAD 2. It won't charge via my USB Port on my PC that I travel with. Also I just purchased a new desktop Mac and it will not charge on that USB port either. But it will charge via the Wall Plug that came with it. I am worried when I travel to different countries to use the wall plug. I have an adapter to switch power. I am from Canada and travel oversees where the power is 240 vs the 120 at home. If I use my plug adapter and plug in my ipad to the wall Will I destroy the battey in my IPAD 2. I love my ipad to travel with but it is very frustrating when it will not charge on my PC or on the airplane. Then I am afraid to use the wall plug in the airport because of the difference in power. Would really appreciate some help here because I am oversees 2 weeks a month and only get a couple days use of my IPAD. I have all my books and everything on it and need to be able to recharge it.
