Regarding IOS 7 activation lock. For people who are not early adopter or wealthy, relying on second hand purchase to own an IOS 7 device, has any consideration been given? Online purchases are routine. In good faith, many will now suffer for not knowing

I am part of the second hand market, non early adopter, that's trying to use an IOS 7 device. I just bought an Ipod touch 5th gen and an Iphone 5 with IOS 7 and quickly learn that I've just lost many hundreds of dollars because of the activation lock. Of course, I should have known better...be smarter, etc. Now I have two bricks, basically fancy Apple product that're now junks. With IOS 7 and the activation lock, isn't Apple concerns that they will soon frustrate a lot of new and existing users and will also be known for creating increasing number of junk (brick) devices.

Disabling iOS 7 Activation Lock in an enterprise environment.
location:

I'm wondering if anyone has found a solution for disabling the new Activation Lock feature in iOS 7 without needing to supervise the device through Apple Configurator? My dilemma is we have about 50 iPhones deployed in our company. The only way I have found to disable the Activation Lock feature is to supervise the device using Apple Configurator. However, if the device is supervised, the user cannot sync it with iTunes on their computer. A lot of our users do sync their iPhones to keep backups, transfer photos, etc. So the way I see it, I am left with two choices: We supervise all of our iPhones and tell our users they can't sync with iTunes anymore. We leave them unsupervised and make a policy that whenever we have to wipe a device we make the user disable Find My iPhone first.

iOS 7 Activation Lock On My Supervised Devices
location:
apple.com - date:

Running into huge road blocks with "Activation Lock" feature on iOS7. Our district has about 2500 student iPads which have their own apple ID. At the beginning of the year rollout we were on iOS 6.1.3. We have our students activate find my iPad app. If any re-provisioning had to be done to a device in 6.1.3 such as a passcode lock out, a simple touch with iTunes or Configurator would blow it out and you could move on with the device. Now activation lock in iOS7 has me in a real jam with no option but a complete wipe and loss of data for the student. Seems like I've moved from a scalpel to a chainsaw approach which is killing me. We all know we get handed locked up devices for a myriad of reasons most of which because the student either forgot their apple ID password or passcode. Has anyone found a technical work around for this? We supervise our devices using AirWatch MDM Agent, and use Apple Configurator to create our own profiles.

iOS 7 Activation Lock solution?

So I've been reading a lot about people falling into the trouble of buying a second hand device and updating it to iOS 7, only to find out that the previous owner is still signed in with their ID with no work around? But I've been thinking, and I want to see if anyone has tried this and succeeded? But wouldn't a DFU restore bring the iDevice back to life? What do you think? I really want to try this out and help some people!

iOS 7 Activation Lock bypass discovered, protect yourself with Touch ID or Passcode
location:

A bug has been found in
iOS 7 that allows a an attacker with physical control over a lost or stolen iPhone to get around Activation Lock and gain access to the device. Unfortunately, the method for circumventing Activation Lock has been made public. However, the bypass process requires the attacker have access to an unlocked device, and be able to access the device after a reboot, so it can be thwarted by simply having a Passcode enabled (either by itself or as part of
Touch ID).

How to prevent iOS 7 activation lock?
location:
imore.com - date:
November 12, 2013
With iOS 7, Find My iPhone includes a new feature called Activation Lock, which makes it more difficult for anyone else to use or sell your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if you ever lose it. It starts working the moment you turn on Find My iPhone in iOS 7. With Activation Lock, your Apple ID and password will be required before anyone can: Turn off Find My iPhone on your deviceErase your deviceReactivate and use your device
This can help you keep your device secure, even if it is in the wrong hands, and can improve your chances of recovering it. Even if you erase your device remotely, Activation Lock can continue to deter anyone from reactivating your device without your permission. All you need to do is keep Find My iPhone turned on, and remember your Apple ID and password.

iPAD with iOS 7 is stolen. Will activation lock help?
location:
imore.com - date:
October 20, 2013
Well, the question may be easy. I have iPAD, I upgraded it to iOS7, I configured activation lock on it.
Now it has been stolen. I of course turned on the lost mode.
The question is, whether this activation lock may be suppressed - for example if thief will try to downgrade the iPAD to iOS 6 or, when they will break in (for example by guessing the password or by using the traces left by fingers on the surface) and_ after the password is guessed, try to deactivate lock
Many thanks in advance´
