Microsoft representatives recently told CNN that they would love to have Apple bring iTunes to its Windows 8 “Metro” platform but users shouldn’t expect a touch-friendly version of the application any time soon as Apple doesn’t appear to be too keen on developing a version of iTunes that integrates the Modern UI face of Windows 8. According to the chief financial officer of the Microsoft’s Windows division:
You shouldn't expect an iTunes app on Windows 8 any time soon. iTunes is in high demand. The welcome mat has been laid out. It's not for lack of trying.
For those of you who didn’t already know, iTunes is already available for Windows 8 but the lack of a Modern UI version, otherwise known as “Metro,” means that users in table

If you dont like Metro and want a better OS then install Windows 7. Thats the best OS for a PC at the moment. Everything runs in it, its got desktop gadgets and its a LOT

With industry trends clearly moving towards digital distribution, Microsoft will also be making the move with an "App Store" in the upcoming Windows 8. Microsoft
introduced the Windows 8 team in a blog post earlier today.
Amongst the different teams listed, Microsoft listed an "App Store" team, seemingly confirming
previous evidence from an early Windows 8 screenshot which showed a "Store" button:

FCP on the App Store, Windows 8, and other thoughts.
location:
macrumors.com - date:
April 12, 2011
So I realized today, after reading the postings of FCP X being on the App Store, and of Windows 8 having an App Store with DRM'd apps (along with rumors of both Win 8 and Lion locking down the OS ala iOS) that the days of downloading apps over the internet are at an end. It's fairly obvious that moving forward, Apple will be distributing everything over the internet, from Apps to software updates to OS releases, and most 3rd-party devs will probably follow suit. So, 2 things:
- Apps that don't follow the submission guidelines will die, or have to be rewritten.
- Optical drives, RIP. I think we'll see them disappear by the end of next year.

App can't run? (windows 8 install problem)
location:

I'm trying to install itunes on my new Windows 8 64 bit computer and am getting the error message "This app can't run on your PC" It prompts me to check with the software manufacturer - but I'm not seeing anything on the iTunes download that would point me to a different download. The version I've downloaded is iTunes64setup. Anyone else run in to this? I did search a little but most of the questions that came up were old and seemed to be related to when windows 8 was first released.

Windows 8 music app with ITunes Files
location:
apple.com - date:

I have windows 8 installed and I also have itunes installed to play the songs from the mac part of my hard drive (SSD). However, itunes looks very out of place in the windows 8 interface so I was wondering if there was any way I could get the Windows 8 music app to recognize the ITunes music files on my mac partition.I know that I could copy the music files onto the Windows 8 side but that would be about 15 gigs and I can't waste that kind of memory on duplicate files. So in summary, can the windows 8 music app detect music files for Itunes?
