How to get iphone version of Maps.app on to the iPod Touch for walking directions
location:

How do I go about finding how to get the latest version of Maps.app for the iPhone onto my jailbroken iPod Touch. It pisses me off to no end that I can't just use walking direction on my Touch but an iPhone can. Anyone know how I go about in doing this. I found a site that talked about it back in 2.2 version of the firmware but nothing with the 3.0 and above.

good walking app? (that detects hills)
location:

my mother was saying how she uses some app to monitor her walks, calories burnned, speed, distance walked type of stuff. But it doesnt account for hills and she lives in a hilly area.
Are their similar apps that will do this? Or can the smartphone even detect elevation changes?
Anyone know?

GPS app for walking
location:
macrumors.com - date:

This may be dumb, but here goes:
I going to Italy for 3 weeks of cycling and just wandering around Rome.
I thought it would be useful to have a GPS (particularly for the cycling). And I want all the maps on the phone to avoid roaming charges.
I figure that rules out Maps, MotionX, etc and I need to go with Navigon or iGo (my 2 leading contenders).
Here is the question: when walking around Rome would it be best to have a map of Rome on my phone (one of the $0.99 to $2.99 apps) or will Navigon/iGo be good for walking as well as driving?
Would they work like Maps but with data on the phone so I'm not charged?
thanks

So I've never used one of those run tracker type apps because I don't run , but I think it would be cool to track when I take the dog for a walk. If you have used a few what be do you think would be good for this use?

Hello - My friend and I recently graduated from college. We decided to pursue developing iPhone applications. It has quickly turned from an interest to a passion. We just released our first iPhone application on iTunes. The name of the game is TightWire. It took us about 3 months for full development. We are both really excited about the release and looking for feedback from MacRumors forum! Please let me know what you think about the app!!

Driving/Walking Messages App Idea for iPhone 3GS
location:

I was driving in the car today with my iPhone headphones in my right ear so if I get a call I don't have to go digging in my pocket while I'm on the road.
I began thinking about messaging. When you receive a text, it alerts you through the headphones, but you obviously have to take the phone out if you want to read and reply to the message.
It'd be nice if the Messages app was designed to recognize you received a text with your headphones plugged in (or recognization of a bluetooth connection), read your message to you (and who it's from), then give you the choice to reply with a click, or double-click to automatically call this person back.
With the voice commands now prevalent, you could click once to reply, being prompted to talk, with the phone recording and translating your words into a text. It would then read it back to you for errors, and send with a click.
I'm sure you would end up sending incoherent messages once in
