Mail app asking for passwords it already knows, taking accounts offline, intermittently failing to connect IMAP/SMTP
location:
apple.com - date:
February 10, 2013
Recently I have been experiencing intermittent connection failures with Mail in OS X 10.7.5 on both our Mac Pro and MacBook Pro. The little "lightning bolt" icon or the "exclamation point" icon will occasionally appear next to some or all of my accounts in the left column and Mail will (sometimes) prompt for passwords already in my keychain and then take the accounts offline. Sometimes the failures take place during IMAP logins and sometimes during SMTP sends. Sometimes they affect my iCloud accounts, sometimes my Gmail accounts, and sometimes both. When I try to take the account(s) back online, Mail sometimes fails to do so. Quitting the Mail application completely and relaunching it will randomly result in the problem persisting or going away. What makes this so confusing is about half the time, Mail works just fine.

Mail App keeps asking for my email passwords on Mac OS-X Lion
location:
apple.com - date:
May 16, 2012
I've had this problem with every single MacBook I've owned running on Leopard, Snow Leopard and now on my Lion one too!Does anyone know how to stop it? It seems to be worse than ever on my new Lion OS MacBook Air.I have Yahoo!, iCloud, Hotmail and BT Internet email addresses in my mail app. Every two minutes the dock icon starts bouncing and it's requesting the password for one of them. Everytime I tick the box saying "remember this in my keychain" but no sooner have I done that and it pops back up again requesting the password that I have just entered. I am entering the correct passwords and all email addresses are active. It's really winding me up at the moment as I keep having to quit the mail app because I can't stop it from asking for passwords. This MacBook is brand new. I only got it delivered from Apple last week!

Twitter + Colloquy app keeps forgetting passwords
location:
modmyi.com - date:
November 7, 2010
Hi, am wondering if anyone else has noticed this, but my Twitter and Colloquy apps forget their passwords when I quit them in multitasking on 4.1 jailbroken iPhone 4. Both of these apps are purchased off iTunes, and I am using the following mods:
-SBSettings + SBSettings toggles
-PrivaCy
-MyWi
-My3G
-libhide
-Action menu
-Activator
-ScreenDimmer
-EnhancedTabs
-fastcopy
All purchasable Cydia packages are legit purchased. Has anyone else experienced the same phenomenon?
BTW:
-Mail accounts in Settings app, for example retain their passwords
-Beejive works fine, keeps passwords
-Skype can sign in instance after instance
-Safari remembers passwords/signins
I have deleted/reinstalled the apps.
These apps do not exhibit this on 3.2.1 iPad.
Any ideas?

Recommend an app for passwords
location:
ilounge.com - date:
February 16, 2010
I use Windows vista and iPhone. Looking for an application that will allow me to sync my passwords over the air to both computer and iPhone.
In the past I used ewallet until they required paid upgrades to continue to sync passwords then several years ago I switched to keepass and love it however their app doesn't sync with iphone and if use dropbox for syncing it doesn't allow for updating on iphone.
I can't believe that this is this hard, can someone recommend an application that will allow for the viewing and changing. updating passwords and information on both a pc and iphone.

Recovering app login/passwords
location:
imore.com - date:
August 15, 2010
Hi,
Is there any way of locating passwords on the iPhone4 that are used in conjunction with apps that are installed? i.e. can I find a password vault or something in the phone or within the app data via Explorer?
I want to restore my phone as a new phone, but have lost a few app login/passwords & want an easy way of finding them before I possibly restore the phone.
Thanks
