Mail.app + Outlook, attachment issue. Back to Plain Text...
location:

I give up, there's no way of getting Mail.app and Outlook to talk nice together when using formatted text and attachments.
I'm using "insert images at the bottom of the mail" (or whatever it's called in english ) as I read that some users wouldn't be able to read/receive any text _after_ the attachment/image if you insert image inline in the message. And also because it's annoying that everything you drag in / attach are displayed in the middle of everything, if you are writing. Mucher nicer it goes to the bottom.
But if it goes to the bottom, and the mail is Formatted Text, then the recipient, in Outlook and Gmail, will not see the paperclip-attachment icon. If it's a long mail, and they don't scroll to the bottom, they won't know there's an attachment.
Now, simply switching to Plain Text seem to solve it all. But the

Create MS Outlook-compatible Mail.app templates?
location:
apple.com - date:
April 22, 2012
I have tried Mail Designer app (equinux) to create templates. Result after 2 hours of work: They look great on a Mac and on an iPhone / iPad (as long as you don't alter them)The look absolutely horrible on a Windoze PC (Outlook). It may be Microsoft's fault, but who cares when you create an e-mail whose text and graphics are totally garbled. So, how can I design Mail templates that even a Windoze machine can render properly? Thanks a lot! Peter

Mail app for Outlook.com
location:
macrumors.com - date:

Hi everyone,
I was a Hotmail user and has recently switched to the new "Outlook.com". I was using MBox Mail for my Mail App and everything was perfect. I could see all the folders I had on Hotmail.
Now after switching to Outlook.com, I can't get the Mail App and MBox Mail working. I cannot see the folders anymore. I cannot even send email! It keeps prompting me for password for the smtp server. I noticed its user name does not have "outlook.com" at the end so I added it, but that does not solve the problem.
My Mac is using Mountain Lion. It automatically chooses POP3 for me, without giving me a chance to switch to IMAP.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Chris

What is your favorite mail client? Please post only if you use Exchange Server. I really like the new Mail.app in Lion, but I am still not so sure it is better than Outlook 2011. What do you think?

I'm having an awful time using Mail to access my university email account. I know multiple other mac users for whom the following settings DO work. I have verified the settings MANY TIMES and I am POSITIVE they are correct, so that is not the issue. The settings were provided by my IT department.Email: my full school email address (containing the @blah.edu)POP server: outlook.comSSL: on, port 995Authentication: passwordError message: "The server error encountered was: The server “outlook.com” refused to allow a connection on port 995."If I try to use terminal to SSH to outlook.com on port 995, I get the same message. My IT department opened a service ticket with microsoft and they were unhelpful.

Mail app asks for outlook password upon launch, why?
location:
apple.com - date:
January 9, 2013
I have a mac mini and mac pro, both with this same outlook account set up in mail preferences, but for some odd reason, my macbook will prompt me with "mail cannot connect to outlook.com" message after it is launched and request that I enter the correct password. The password is correct however, and it is the same password I use with the outlook web interace. I have tried deleteing the account then setting it up again, as well as clearing out the current password then entering in the correct one, but it still asks me for the password if I close mail then reopen. Sometimes when I launch, even though it is requesting the password, I will find new emails addresed to the outlook account in that specific inbox, but I can never refresh that mail box to have it fetch the most recent messages. I also have an icloud account, as well as gmail, and these show no problems.
