App to lock screen w/o using the lock button?

It's been a bad day. While waiting for my case to arrive in the mail for my new touch, it slipped out of my front shirt pocket and slammed against the edge of my desk.
As my bad luck would have it, The part that made contact with the desk edge was the top lock button which as a result is now jammed in and dented and pretty much useless. Fortunately, all other functions work flawlessly and there really isn't any noticable cosmetic damage.
However, I can't manually lock or power off the touch as the lock button doesn't response. Are there any alternative 3rd party applications that can be used to perform those functions?
Thanks in advance...

Help making a Lock.App (Sleep/Power Button Doesn't Work)
location:
modmyi.com - date:

Hi, I'm looking to see if anybody could help me make an app that simply locks the iPhone. My Sleep/Power button doesn't work and i'm not very good with opening up phones so I'd like to avoid doing that. I've used BossPrefs to lock my phone but it involves a swipe and two button presses before locking, which adds up to a lot when you check your phone a lot like I do.
I'm on 4.0.1 and I have experience SSHing into my phone with previous firmwares, so is there any way i could write a simple app that locks the iphone and then upload it to my phone? thanks.

Sleep button busted. Need app to lock screen
location:
modmyi.com - date:

Hi
So, my iphone's sleep/wake button is dead. Right now the device is on "autolock" mode, which takes a minute to happen. I'd like to know if there's an app that immediately locks the screen. Im guessing something very simple: just tap and PUFF, screen locked.
I use sbsettings, which has something like this. But it requires me to slide my finger across the status bar, THEN click the power button and THEN click in "Lock". If I could keep an app in my homescreen that would do that would be perfect.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Best regards

I wanting to allow people to use an iPad at work, but I want them to only use the application I provide. Is there a way to lock down the pushing of the "Home" button so that they cannot leave the application? Is there another app that might make this possible?Thank you.

iPod Touch Top Button Broken - Sleep/Lock App?
location:
macrumors.com - date:
July 20, 2010
So I've been looking through the App store for an ipod touch app that will lock/sleep the device after I broke my top button.
Does such an app exist? Since it affects the actual iPod itself, by forcing it to lock, I'm thinking this is a bit different to other apps?
Is there a similar alternative? I simply can't afford the 135 pounds (200$) to get the top button repaired.

Lock.app for worn out Standby Button - 2G, 2.0.1
location:
modmyi.com - date:

Dear Community,
ive been a iphone user since day one - and so it came that my standby/sleep button became more and more worn out. by now i have to press it really hard already - and im affraid that if i continue like that i wont be able anymore to go into DFU in case i need it.
beside that, i cant use the main function of the button anymore - which is to go to standby.
my request: is there someone who could code an app like lock.app already released for pre 2.x phones once? (see link:
Lock - iClarified - Application for iPhone, iPod Touch - iAppCat)
idea is that i have an app on my springboard which i press and the phones display turns black (goes to standby), or at least goes to "slide to unlock" mode.
cant be a big deal, and as im not the only one with a 2G iphone, im sure there are some other ppl out there too with exactly the same prob
