iPhone, iOS 6, video from app (Gmail, Weibo, etc) no sound
location:

Hi I have this problem since I upgraded iOS 6. When I open a Youtube link in Gmail app, the youtube video starts to play, but there is no sound output. But if I click the open in safari button on the bottom right, and the video plays in Safari, the sound output is fine. This happens to all videos in apps, like Weibo, DropBox, etc. How to fix this?

iOS Mail App Gmail push stopped working
location:
apple.com - date:
May 13, 2013
(NOTE: this has nothing to do with Google's decision in January regarding Exchange sync.) My Gmail account is configured using Exchange and has always worked fine and received sync notifications of email. Just recently, with the latest update to iOS 6.1.4 Gmail push notifications stopped working on my iPhone 5. They still work fine on my wife's iPhone 4S, and it's updated to 6.1.4 also. I've tried all the so-called fixes for this in the forums here, but none work, and all actually claim to be only temp fixes, etc. My phone was getting push notifications just fine up to the 6.1.4 update. Changing to the native Gmail app for my iPhone and iPad is not an option...the app is HORRIBLE and you need a magnifying glass to read email messages. From searching, it seems this is a widespread problem. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

'Push for Gmail' Enables Push Notifications for New Gmail Users in Apple's Mail App
location:
modmyi.com - date:

Many people use Gmail, and many people use Gmail on their iOS devices through the stock Mail application. Unfortunately as of January 30, 2013, Google no longer supports push notifications for new devices that set up Gmail accounts. Instead, Google offers a Gmail application in the
App Store for free that offers push notifications instead.
If you want to add push notifications to your Mail application for your Gmail account again rather than having to use another e-mail client to handle your Gmail inbox, you can now use a new jailbreak tweak called Push for Gmail by iOS developer Noppers Software.
The tweak uses the Gmail application from Google to utilize push notifications in the Mail application. To use the tweak, make sure you download the G

iPad Mini Mail app and Gmail.app.
location:
macrumors.com - date:
January 7, 2013
On the mini how can I configure mail app or Gmail app to provide a full screen of an email's content in landscape mode? (I need the larger fonts). Is there a command line fix, even temporary one to achieve that? Is there a competing mail service app that provides single screen viewing in IOS while in horizontal mode?
My work around right now is clumsy and time consuming. (I copy, paste_to_doc, on lengthy emails with charts.)
Any suggestions?

Gmail app vs Mailbox app
location:

I was at like 40,000 in line yesterday and today got a notice that I could start using the Mailbox app. It only lets you sync with a gmail acct for now...
I'm on the fence as which is better. I think i still like the Gmail app better. Both are better than the iOS Mail.app.
Who likes one or the other better? And why?

New Gmail app update "no longer available" from App Store?
location:
modmyi.com - date:
December 4, 2012
My App Store is showing an update for Gmail at version 2.0, but when I click "update", a dialog pops up saying "the item you are trying to buy is no longer available."
This is the case on my iPhone 5 and iPad, both running 6.0.1. I've tried signing out of the App Store with my Apple ID and signing back in, but that didn't change anything.
I'm wondering if this is just me or if others have noticed this too. Maybe it's just taking a little while for the update to propagate through the App Store servers (or something, I really have no idea)
Edit: Whoops, this wasn't supposed to go in the modding/jail breaking forum.

Gmail app vs Mailbox app
location:

People have already said this, but Gmail app because of labels. Labeling is the biggest reason I use Gmail, and I cannot believe Mailbox app didn't have that feature given that it's Gmail only. Also can't believe they didn't include "report as spam."

native Email app Vs Gmail app battery life
location:
imore.com - date:

I was wondering what would result in better battery life, using the native app for Gmail via exchange (push). Or, would the gmail app (which has push as well, but not via any settings) be lighter on the battery?
