help?: iTunes app > JB iPod 4g via OpenSSH
location:
modmyi.com - date:
March 5, 2011
Hello all & sundry,
I am new here (although I've been lurking for a while). Last week, I backed up my 64 GB iPod Touch 4G (iOS 4.2.1) to iTunes, saved my SHSH blob(s) using TinyUmbrella, and then successfully jailbroke said iPod using greenpois0n. This was my first JB. I've been hesitating for ages : all the panic-stricken horror story posts made me apprehensive, but it went smooth as cream. The excellent guides & tidbits posted here (& elsewhere), made the process vastly simpler than anticipated. Thank you, everyone — collectively, you are the cat's @ss!
Since then, I've installed Winterboard & a few other Cydia apps, & then played/made some mods (first by using iPhone Explorer, Phone Disk, & DropBox to move files back & forth — don't ask). A few days ago, I finally clued in & added iFile, OpenSSH, & then (via iFile) MobileTerminal vers. 520.1 (&, yes, I changed the password

Email app on JB iPod touch 4g 5.1.1 keeps crashing
location:

Hello,
Just recently, I started having a problem with the mail app on my iPod, it keeps crashing. Every time i click on a message to read it, the app freezes and just wont open the email. I am able to exit by pressing the home button so its not totally freezing. I tried fixing user directory permissions through SBSettings, but it didn't help. Are there things i can do to fix it that don't involve resetting or restoring my iPod?

I'm guessing Apple's Remote App 2.0 works well for iPhone 4 and iPad, but when I try using it with iPod Touch 4G, it does not show up in devices to enter the passcode.same wifi networkiTunes 10.0.1.22, Home Sharing On, Library Sharing enabled, Looking for remotes enabled.iPod Touch 4G (iOS 4.1) (no problems with wifi)Apple's Remote App 2.0 Home Sharing login works well. Adding Library produces 4 digit passcode.BUT, again, it does not show up in Devices to have the opportunity to enter the passcode.iTunes is an approved app in firewall settings.Win 7 (32bit) Network Detection/Printer&File Sharing is enabled.Interesting:When I try to connect to Airport Express with my PC,I receive "unknown error (-15006)"Another iMac running iTunes 9 is able to stream music to the airport express without problem.Using my PC, I'm able to connect to the iMac, and stream music from the iMac to my PC.When Airpo

AppleTV aka "LowTide" App Ported To iPod Touch 4G
location:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTJ5yG2LyX8]YouTube - Lowtide on iPod4,1 #2[/ame]
Dustin Howett, developer of Safari Download Manager, has ported the recently discovered LowTide app, which is basically the Apple TV application, to the iPod Touch 4G.
Clearly not everything is going to work. AppleTV was never meant to be used on our iDevices, so things like touch response and resolution will be out-of-whack, but I'm sure after some tweaking we may possibly see something more usable here. As interesting as this sounds, its no easy task to maintain and modifying some of the data to get the app to work can be rather risky.
This port is NOT available for download as of yet, and the requirements to do so can be painful, even Dustin says it's not entirely a good idea. Chances are,

iPad with 4G - 'offline' GPS app?
location:
macrumors.com - date:
June 6, 2012
I have an iPad 3rd Gen with AT&T. I do not have a data plan through AT&T and don't plan on buying one. I want to be able to use the iPad as a GPS when traveling through the US and then this summer when I am going to be in Europe.
I tried the TomTom US/Canada app and it will not center on my location if I don't have wifi. I feel a bit cheated by either the app or the iPad....just not sure which yet. Figured with a >1GB download I would have had something similar to a stand-alone GPS.
Is what I am trying to do unreasonable? Or am I missing something?

Best App for Calls over Internet 3g/4g
location:
macrumors.com - date:
January 3, 2013
I am pretty sure Google Voice does not do this, as they only use your minutes (bummer!)
Anyways, I will be traveling out of the country and would like to have a local number for people to call me while I am away. I will be using a prepaid sim in that country, and they offer 2GB internet which is great, but of course minutes to and from the US is costly!
I was looking for an app that can provide me a local number, and use 3G data (not wifi, as I will be out most of the day) to make/receive phone calls.
I have also looked at talkatone, but i do not understand how it incorporates my GV account and if it will truly work. I also looked into Magicjack's app but the notification is horrible and I can only connect it to my house phone which I rather not do because I will get lots of calls I do not want to get.
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!! Thank you

iPod Touch 4g ios 5.0.1 app problem
location:
macrumors.com - date:
December 17, 2011
so i have an iPod Touch 4th gen with ios 5.0.1 and did a tethered jailbreak and installed semitether as well.(redsn0w 0.9.9b8) and it worked fine for a while, but now when i boot tethered, the apps open only on the left side and are small(like only take up a quarter of the screen in the top left, i will link to pics). the rest of the screen is black, and does not seen to do anything when i touch the black area, but it does respond when i touch the area where the app is. also, i did notice that when i reboot without booting tethered, it all works fine. i would say it is probably an app i installed from cydia, but i have not installed any more recently. I would just back it up in itunes and restore it, but i would have to get all my cydia apps back, and i would back up the apps with xbackup or pkg backup, but i cant use any apps right now. so restoring is kinda a last resort, but i think it may come down to that.
